Canvas shared by presenting team for Hands-on session
Sharing by a team of staff who have integrated the CanvaEDU as the backbone of the school virtual platform.
The presentation focused on the VIDEO element - started with some work done by the students. It's definitely fun and much easier to use (technical skills) for the younger ones. The team emphasised the ease of using Canva, compared to the iMovie, etc. However, for secondary level, it seemed childish (to me).
Of the several examples presented, I wonder - actually there are better options.
E.g. the one clip when a student demonstrated how to solve a simple equation.
In fact, if the emphasis is on the mathematical learning (i.e. both skills and mathematical communication), I think using simple video recording would suffice.
This goes back to - the need to have clear learning objectives of the task.
The bulk of the time is the like a training session, when the presenter attempted to teach the participants to use Canva to learn using various video features.
Canva has its strengths. I've learn (and become aware of) some interesting features of the platform.
I was lost halfway as the pace went a bit too fast - If the intent is to get participants to acquire the skill, think there's room for improvement to the delivery, especially one of the presenters just rattle off so quickly.
I wish the participants would have gone beyond the just video.
It would be more powerful and convincing if the team can share, demonstrate how these elements are put together and run in an ecosystem - not just 'video' as a standalone.
