LINK to master Padlet for presentation
I enjoyed the session - compared to the earlier one on Canva. I wondered why - despite the fact both touched on "skill" training - getting to know the feature.Post session reflection - I think I know why:
- Having the "know how", though basic - helps me to follow the session more confidently although new features that are 'wow' factor (to me) are introduced.
- The spread of features in Padlet were shown - as participants, I can see it in action. Seeing is believing and I could see how powerful it is.
- One important thing is the presentation is clear - the presenters did not rattle through the session.
In contrast, Canvas is something that I'm not familiar with.
- While I could follow the hands-on at the start, it think it's overwhelmingly too many things to do. The facilitators/ trainers emphasised too much of the same thing - just video, instead of the breadth, and indeed, many participants don't bring their laptop with them.
- While some students' work were shown, more elaboration would be helpful to make a connection to show its relevance to meeting the curriculum needs.
In June, owing to the many-fold increased in the educational price for educational institutions, the school decided not to continue subscribe to it. I guess most people's reaction is - what a pity, there are so many features available. However, the after this presentation, I realise most of us (not sure if there are other Padlet experts in school) are probably only using about 10% to 15% - if I were to compare my fluency and what the presenters demonstrated. Paying something that we only used less than 20% is definitely not worth that value.
Seriously, if I have the time, I would not mind kickstarting the "change management" process in its adoption. Unfortunately, I don't the bandwidth at this point. Probably need to wait for end-of-year school holiday to find sometime to explore and go deeper, and broader. Yes, the sandbox is something really worth exploring.
I was quite excited over some of the features shared:
